Overview

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Donor Services, assumes responsibility for overseeing the staff and all blood collection operations at fixed neighborhood sites. Monitors the collection activities to ensure compliance with SOPs. Responsible for meeting projected production goals. Responsible for financial oversight of site. Services as a resource for donor eligibility and phlebotomy complications. Oversees quality control of all processes/ equipment / supplies as required for blood collection. Promotes positive image of CBC to community.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory agencies to ensure purity of products and safety of donors.
  • Responsible for financial oversight. This includes setting annual budget (with Assistant Director of Donor Services) and ensuring monthly goals are met.
  • Responsible for staffing and schedules to meet the needs of the business and customer services.
  • Responsible for site meeting all internal and external audits and ensuring corrective action to findings as applicable.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal information regarding donors and staff.
  • Oversees documentation of CLIA required forms.
  • Actively works with marketing and recruitment to grow business.
  • Knowledge of tracking of platelet and FTD donors.
  • Responsible for supply ordering, adhering to FIFO method, ordering based on production.
  • Ensures compliance with CBC safety procedures and policies.
  • Performs and/or reviews all quality control procedures as scheduled on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly time frame and returns such record to Kansas City.
  • Functions as a resource for donor questions and concerns.
  • Functions as a resource for staff in regard to donor criteria and vein suitability.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and selection of staff.
  • Provides written evaluation of regular staff in regard to performance and compliance with SOPs for annual review.
  • Responsible for staff meeting CBC attendance and performance guidelines.
  • Promotes customer service and a positive image of CBC to the community and ensures excellent customer service by all staff.
  • Ensures efficient donor flow throughout site.
  • Identify problem areas and implement corrective action as needed.
  • May frequently have to work before and after normal work hours. May frequently work more than 40 hours per week.
  • Responsible for responding to temperature / humidity alarms.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling monthly equipment inventory.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent - Must provide a copy of the transcript.
  • College degree in Business or Biological Science preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • WORK HOURS AND DAYS VARY SO MUST BE VERY FLEXIBLE.

  • Computer skills.
  • Able to develop, monitor and manage the entire financial responsibility of the site.

 

Knowledge:

  • Superior overall knowledge of donor criteria.
  • Superior knowledge of donor interview and blood collections process.
  • Superior knowledge of vein suitability.
  • Superior knowledge of procedures.
  • Knowledge of procedures in completing required forms for daily operations and special needs such as special blood testing, biohazard incidents and employee injuries.
  • Knowledge of budgeting procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

 

Experience Preferred:

Prefer an individual with at least 2 years experience in:

  • Blood collections – past experience as a collection supervisor is a plus.
  • Management / Supervisory experience.
  • CBC, FDA, AABB and OSHA regulations.
